Our First Conversation

Our first session is going to be focused on us getting to know each other. Admittedly, though its also going to entail quite a few forms and history gathering. Everyone comes to therapy for different reasons I want to make sure I understand your story. Even more importantly, i want to make sure you feel understood. I encourage you as a new patient to also feel me out and make sure you feel comfortable collaborating with me. This is a team effort and your comfortability and feedback is essential. Help me understand how to best help you.

What You Can Count On From Me

I am a Brazilian Jiujitsu Black belt and coached for numerous years. Although on the surface it appears unrelated, I think it affects my practice in various ways. Its helped me in regards to breaking down concepts and discussion points. This has helped me dissect how to make things more tangible and "actionable" for patients I work with. To better identify specific actions and behaviors that need to be taken to start making the incremental changes leading towards progress and healing.

My Therapeutic Approach

I care for my patients. I hope to be an effective tool that all my patients can use to reach their personal goals. Make no mistake about it, i have a wealth of experience with 20 year in the mental health field. However, this is a team effort and if you want to find success its going to take taking ownership of your effort in treatment. Quite contrary to my physical presentation, i am quite nurturing. I strive to hold my patients accountable to themselves, and to gently guide them towards reaching their goals. My approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy mixed with my directness and good natured levity I can bring to sessions when appropriate.

Treatment Methods

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps you identify thought patterns that contribute to anxiety, depression, and stress — then build skills to interrupt and change them. Highly effective and well-researched.

Note: Each session is 60 minutes, whether it’s your first consult or an ongoing visit.
