About Me
Cherie obtained her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Social Work from Azusa Pacific University. Her expertise lies in working with both adults and older adults; also with the incarcerated populations. She is a Trauma Informed Care trainer and adjunct professor who loves to be a part of th rehabilitation and healing journey of clients.
My approach to therapy is relatable, authentic, and passionate about helping others heal and become their best self. I believe people come to therapy not only to feel seen and heard but to ultimately grow. With that in mind, I feel it necessary to also hold clients accountable to their own process of change, treatment goals, and healing journey by asking thought-provoking, self-assessing, and at times challenging questions. This goal is often achieved through laughter, tough discussions, and respect.
I have worked in the mental health field for 10+ years and am passionate about working with adults with a history of trauma, grief, and loss, and individuals having challenges dealing with life transitions (ending relationships, new career, grief, etc.). I typically work with high-functioning clients, meaning, clients who on the outside look as if they have it all together, but they express that their inner world is "falling apart." There is often a deep-rooted issue, sometimes known or unknown, that continues to present as a barrier to the client's ability to move forward in life, relationships, and or their careers. The disorders that I most commonly treat are Depression, Anxiety, Trauma Related, Bipolar related disorders, and Neurocognitive Disorders in Older adults.
